Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women, but when it happens, it is an unexpected and often overwhelming event. Cancer is a frightening disease. Lack of information about the diagnosis, treatment options and survival add to the fear.

Breast cancer is very treatable.

Today, because of research and advances in treatment, women have more choices. When breast cancer is found early, women may be able to save their breast. A mastectomy is not always needed. So take time to find out what treatment options are available.

The Sparrow Multidisciplinary Approach
The Breast Cancer Clinic is a place to learn about the disease and about the choices women have for treatment. The clinic offers a multidisciplinary team approach to help women learn about breast cancer and to make informed decisions about what kind of treatment is best for them.

After the team of specialists have met with each patient, they meet with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

During this conference, a radiologist reviews the woman's mammograms and a pathologist reviews the biopsy slides taken of her breast cancer.

Using all the available facts, the team makes a recommendation for treatment. The recommendation is presented to the woman and her family before they leave the center.
